This level often has elements of both group support sessions and individual work in your own time. Because you’re part of the group it's unlikely that any elements will be tailored to you, but often you’ll get the opportunity to ask questions.
Group advantages
- Connecting with people who have similar struggles and knowing that you’re not alone can bring great relief.
- As well as the facilitator, you’ll have support and accountability from the other people in the group.
- Hearing others articulate their food and body challenges can be really helpful in understanding your own.
- There are often opportunities (such as Q&A sessions) to get help with your specific needs.
- It can be flexible to your schedule. If you can’t make the group sessions, recordings are usually available (if online).
- The investment is usually less than 1-1 support.
Group disadvantages
- Because support is more general, you may not get the level of help that you need.
- There may be parts of the programme that are irrelevant to you.
- If attending sessions live is important for your accountability and progress, they may be at times that are inconvenient for you.
- You may have to wait for a group programme to start.
- You don’t know who will be in the group and there may be certain people within it who challenge you.
- If the group is large you may not feel like you are being seen or heard by the facilitator or others within the group.
